No Fat Peanut Butter is Here – PB2 Review


Wait, what? No fat peanut butter? Are you talking about soy peanut butter? No, I’m talking about full-blown delicious peanut butter, son! It may say “no fat”, but the truth is it’s 85% less fat. So depending on how much you eat, it could be thought of as no fat. So, without any further delay, let’s get down to it and see what the deal with PB2 really is.


So, What is PB2?

PB2 is a very low-fat peanut butter that comes as a powder, which is made by pressing all the natural oils out of the peanuts and then dehydrating what’s left. And that’s how they’re able to sport such a low-fat peanut butter. The result is a delicious and all natural alternative to traditional peanut butter with twice the healthy proteins per gram than its traditional counterpart.


Should You Choose PB2 Over Traditional Peanut Butter?

That depends a whole lot on what your goals are and what your current caloric intake is and how flexible you can be with your diet. If you’re running a low-cal diet and don’t have much wiggle room in the way of fat calories, you could definitely use PB2 as a compromise in your diet. Because PB2 is so low in fat, you could basically skip one egg yolk and possibly enjoy six tablespoons of PB2.

But in terms of nutrition density, it wouldn’t be wise to replace nutrient-dense fats for PB2 as most of its nutritious values are lost during the pressing process.


Do the Benefits of PB2 Outweigh the Drawbacks?

This is a tricky question to answer. Again, it would come down to goals and personal preferences. If you really don’t give a crap about nutrients and just want to stuff your face with some delicious peanut butter all while keeping fat to a minimum, then this is what you should take.

If you’re a bit more on the health conscious side of things or you’re just an organic hippie, then I would recommend a tub of Skippy before I do PB2.


Final Thoughts on PB2

In my personal opinion, the only good things that PB2 has going for it, is its taste and its low-fat properties. For the same price, you could buy a 40 oz jar of peanut butter which is equivalent to two jars of PB2.
