He’s set to return to the octagon after his crazy stint in the boxing ring with Mayweather.
2016-2017 has been an amazing year for Conor McGregor.
He became the first UFC fighter in history to hold the titles in 2 weight divisions simultaneously in November 2016, after defeating Alvarez.
But he didn’t quite stop there. His bitter feud with Mayweather on social media actually led to a crazy fight that many didn’t expect would happen.
Although he was defeated by one of the greatest boxers of all time, there were no losers that night. Conor held his own and earned the respect of many athletes in the process – as well taking home at least $100 million.
However, true to his word, the Irishman will be back in the octagon, sooner than you might think.
But it’s not a rematch against Mayweather or Nate Diaz, or even a fight against new rival, Paulie Malignaggi (no matter how hard he tried to earn his ‘red panty night’)
Ferguson Calls Out McGregor After UFC 216 Victory
That’s right, after Tony Ferguson earned the interim title defeating Kevin Lee, the Ultimate Fighter 13 winner now seems likely to have his ‘red panty night’
Ferguson actually called out McGregor in his post-match interview, saying: “Where you at McNugget, you f*cking piece of sh*t?
“You better defend that title or vacate!”
Dana White Basically Confirms McGregor vs Ferguson
Let’s face it, every man and his dog usually calls out McGregor, hoping for that ‘red panty night’.
However, at the UFC 216 post-fight conference, Dana White basically confirmed the match-up.
The president of the UFC said: “Tony’s the interim champion. Conor’s the champion. It’s the fight that makes sense. It’s the fight that has to happen.”
We’re not sure whether Tony Ferguson phoned his wife and asked her to break out the red panties afterwards.
But this will definitely be the biggest fight of his career so far, with probably his biggest pay-out too.
It seems as though Conor McGregor will be dominating the pre-fight build up as usual; especially with Ferguson lacking the same charisma and wit as the Irishman.
However, it will remain to be seen whether Ferguson will offer some competition to McGregor when it matters.
In The Meantime, McGregor’s Film ‘Notorious’ Trailer Released
In all of the news around Tony Ferguson defeating Kevin Lee, Conor McGregor isn’t likely to bat an eyelid.
That’s because he’ll be busy looking forward to the release of the film documenting his life – Notorious.
The official trailer has been released, to gear fans up for the release of the film.
Although the official release date hasn’t been confirmed, Conor has been teasing fans with posts about ‘Notorious’ on social media – as well as revealing that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved, along with his rival, Jose Aldo.
