Your Guide to The Manliest Exercises Ever

You will get strong and look badass doing it

Workout routines and exercises are as many as there are stars in the universe. Well, maybe not as many but there are a lot of them.

If done correctly, all of them could serve their purpose and can get you lean, big, and strong — that’s a fact. But how many of those exercises are manly looking? How many exercises can make you grow an extra testicle just by merely uttering their names? Not many, but there are some that make you look like you can tear the head off a lion.

Bench Press

Let’s start this list with the man-maker itself, the bench. It’s one of the bare bone basic compound strength exercises and the main measuring tool for how much more swole you actually are among gym bros.

When you’re the new kid in the gym, you prove your place among the meatheads at the bench press. When you’re trying to impress your bros with how much you lift, what’s the one stat that you refer to that ends all doubts that you’re jacked? That’s right, the bench press. It’s a great upper body strength building exercise and if you’re able to bench three plates, it looks very manly and alpha.

Deadlift

Another bare bone basic compound exercise that is an essential in strength building. You work your arms, back, legs, traps…well basically your entire body is used when doing deadlifts. Because you use your entire body when doing this exercise, you can also pull much more weight right from the get go. Meaning you look pretty damn badass doing it.

Squats

Staying in line with the compound strength exercise vibe we got going on here, next we’ve got squats. Despite what bro scientists across the globe would have you believe, doing legs is alpha and manly. It’s one of those exercises that puts hair on your chest with every rep you do. Squats are mainly a leg exercise but it also works out your back and your core. Being good at doing squats also has one cool benefit, picking up chicks.

Weighted Dips

Dips are often regarded as the upper body squats, they are a bodyweight exercise that primarily works your triceps but your entire upper body gets worked. What’s even manlier is doing weighted dips. Nothings says “I’m a strong bastard who’s too strong for his own body” like adding a chain around your waist with a 45lbs plate attached to it. Plus you improve your grip strength with dips and having a strong, vice grip-like handshake is as manly as manly gets.

More manliness on the next page…

Sledgehammer Swings

To do this exercise, you’re going to need a quick run to the hardware store and get yourself a big ass sledgehammer and a tractor tire. This exercise is great for building up your explosive power and quickness. It’s also very taxing on your body, so don’t worry about your biceps not getting a workout.

You’ll feel the burn in your arms and across your entire body, all while improving your cardio. Why is it manly, you ask? Well, because you are literally beating on something with a sledgehammer. No one messes with the guy that starts his workout by grabbing a sledgehammer.

Tire Flips

Since you already got a tractor tire for the previous workout, let’s mention another one that involves a tire. This is another one of those unconventional exercises that are very beneficial in getting stronger and working multiple muscle groups at once.

Strongmen do this exercise all the time and so do MMA fighters, NFL players and pretty much every other professional athlete in the world. Even the guys that starred in 300 used tire flips as a part of their exercises and they were ripped as hell! I think that at this point I don’t have to tell you why this is a manly exercise.

Atlas Stone Lifts

When the strongest men on the planet do this exercise on a regular basis then it can sure as hell be qualified as being manly. Such is the case with a Strongmen classic, the Atlas Stone lift. It’s a very hard exercise to pull off because you don’t have a handle or anywhere to place your grip — you have to hug the stone with your entire body.

To perform an Atlas Stone lift without hurting yourself, you have to put an emphasis on technique and use your entire body, not just your arms. If you do it correctly you’ll get stronger arms, legs, back, and shoulders; basically your entire body. Let’s see our manliness checklist on this one: it gets you stronger — check. You look badass doing it — check. Yep, the jury has spoken and this one is also, 100% testosterone fuel — manly.
